Following a comprehensive adoption process we place dogs in permanent, loving, caring homes. This process involves investing considerable time and effort to find quality matches versus focusing on quantity of adoptions. This can mean that a dog may be in our care for some time.
While we won’t euthanize a dog due to capacity issues, we cannot take in every dog that needs help.
Lab Lovers Rescue assists Labs in distress without regard to age or ease of placement.
Dogs in our care receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, including spay/neuter if age-appropriate, and are housed in nurturing foster homes while they await adoption. We do not have a shelter or physical location where potential adopters can meet the dogs, and must rely on a combination of online resources, meet and greets, and the availability of our foster families to provide information and connect approved adopters with the dogs in foster.
Lab Lovers Rescue will also assist and contribute to the growing interconnection between rescue groups, shelters and others working with homeless animals. We will publish contact information for rescues and shelters in our area.
We strive to convince the public to consider adoption first. If that is not possible, we encourage the public to obtain a puppy or older dog from a responsible/reputable breeder. We work with the public to stress the importance of spay/neuter programs.
Lab Lovers Rescue is a New York state not for profit corporation and a registered dog rescue with the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets.
